Okay, so now that I’ve talked about some serious real world stuff (I’ll probably talk about it again in October), let’s move onto my new short story.
It’s titled “He Loves Me Not” and is about a young woman who is in an abusive relationship. I’ll give you the summary.
With his fists, he has trained her to know when he wants food.
With his piercing words, he has eliminated her self-esteem.
With his violence, he has killed her dreams.
She has given up on everything she had ever wanted. Love. Marriage. Children.
Until she takes a simple test.
With her future hanging on a simple yes or no, she reflects on her life. She reminisces about the good times she shared with Nick, as well as the bad times. Emotions fly through her during her reflections, as she decides what to do.
When the test is over, she must decide what she will do. Stay with someone she loves, even though he abuses her? Or, does she give up the man she loves in favor of a fresh start?
*WARNING: CONTAINS SOME ADULT MATTER AND LANGUAGE. NOT SUITABLE FOR ANYONE UNDER 18. TRIGGER WARNING.*
It’s up for preorder right now, set you release October 3rd of this year, and you can buy it at Smashwords, B&N, Kobo, iTunes, and Amazon. It does contain graphic language and adult material so please be aware of that when you start to read it, I did my best not to sugarcoat anything. So, if you’re a parent of a teenager and you feel like they’d be okay with reading this and you would like them to, I advise you read it first. Also, it is a short story, not a full length novel.
The price is set at $1.99, but right now, you can get if for free at Smashwords (only)! Yay! They’re having their annual Summer/Winter Promotion (summer for the northern hemisphere, winter for the southern so no one is left out). The sale runs from July 1st to July 31st, so act soon. Smashwords doesn’t have their own reading app so if you preorder it for free this month through them, you’ll have to side load it to your favorite reading device (should be easy for most of my readers). If you are interested at all, the code for this awesome promotion is SW100.
If you preorder and then read it when it comes out in October, read with an open mind. Remember, it’s a work of fiction, but includes many real facts and situations that many abuse victims/survivors face in abusive relationships.
You can also find all the links associated with this short story in the back matter of my other short story, “Come Find Me” (also available at all the same retailers).

Books I’m excited about!
By Ruth Ann Nordin
An ordinary young woman on Earth learns she’s destined to be the queen on another planet…and she’s already engaged to a young man she doesn’t know.
I love Ruth Ann Nordin! Her romances are sweet and don’t rely on smut to tell her story. So if you’re looking for an actual romance with more feelings and less bodies, check out some of her stuff. She has quite a few free books as well.
by Madison Dunn
I’m not sure why it happens, but when I focus just right, I can slow time. Things around me become lighter somehow, and I almost feel the tiny particles of energy spinning inside of them. The thing is, having the ability to transform the world around you isn’t all it’s cracked up to be — especially when you are running from the Valencia without any deodorant.
I’ve never read anything by her, but this does sound very exciting!
by Maureen Murrish
It is a shock when Robby discovers he is to bond with a dragon. Just as he is getting used to the idea he learns before they stand a chance of bonding they have to prevent his fellow bondlings and the inhabitants of the city he is just learning to love from being destroyed. Only his one-time protector, Abigail and a mysterious dragon that has been condemned to live as an outcast can help them.
This one sounds fun too. Plus, dragons.
by L. L Hunter
Ash and Eva have been reunited.
Henry has found his brother.
Happily ever after.
The end. Right?
Who will lose their life in the thirst for power?
The thrilling conclusion to the Dragon Heart series.
Crave Power. Crave Blood. Crave Freedom.
**Exclusive pre-order price**
I haven’t read the first three in the series, but after reading this summary, I think I’m going to have to.
by Nona Mae King
Rachel Samson studied abroad at a business school for women since the age of fourteen. When she arrives home, she discovers that the control she seeks is but a myth. But one man continuously offers her the power she craves, even at the risk to his own financial freedom. Asking for nothing in return, will she surrender to the desire to trust him?
I know I’ve said many times that I don’t like smut (and this cover indicates smut is involved), but I still fall prey to it. The summaries always sound compelling to me, so I am excited to read this.
It’s free at all of them, except Amazon. They don’t do permanent free so it’s $.99 there. So unless you refuse to shop anywhere but Amazon, I would get it at one of the other four places.
